Range Rover Velar SVR Fine Tuning At The Nurburgring

Land Rover was spotted at the Nurburgring again, this time with a high-performance SVR variant of the Velar. Expected to rival the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 and Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the range-topping model is being fine tuned on a rain-soaked track in preparation.

Hidden under its bonnet is a supercharged V8 engine delivering 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission routes that power to an all-wheel-drive system, which could be enough to rocket the Velar SVR to 60mph in around 4 seconds. On top of a more powerful engine compared to its rivals the SUV weighs less as well, coming in at 1,800kg thanks to the vehicle’s aluminum architecture.

Aside from a power boost, CarScoops claims the upcoming Velar SVR will feature air suspension with “new, more aggressive settings to keep everything in check.” Completing the package should be larger air intakes at the corners of the front bumper, what looks to be circular exhausts outlets, and a massive set of wheels with matching brakes.

We can expect to see the Range Rover Velar SVR debut sometime this summer before it goes on sale in Europe shortly after. Perhaps it’ll have a MSRP of around $84,000, which may be accurate if you take into account the cost of a SE Velar and the price difference between the Autobiography and SVR trims of the Range Rover Sport.

A $84,000 MSRP is actually not that bad considering what you're getting in return. Though there are more powerful options around that price point that's already on sale, but the Jeep trackhawk is questionable and the Velarian is definitely going to be more luxurious.

Very exciting time for not only us as consumers but also for JL as this will be the fastest product they have come out with to date. Range Rover Sport SVR was just too big and heavy, although it hauled!
Hopefully here they can even take it a step further and come out with a Velar model to the effect of Jaguars Project 8

The Range Rover Sport SVR set a new record on Tianmen road recently, beating out a Ferrari 458 Italia. It's pretty impressive what these SVR variants are capable of and the Velar model looks to be the fastest Range Rover that we've seen so far. There aren't many 4 second CUV's on the market.

Really looking forward to seeing the SVR unmasked, and it looks like Land Rover has made quite the worth adversary for the Stelvio and AMG GLC. A couple renderings have popped up online, so I figured I'd share them.
