Higher performance trims aren’t all that uncommon and Range Rover's answer to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV and Porsche Macan Turbo, the Velar SVR, was spied testing at Nürburgring.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this exact vehicle as a heavily camouflaged prototype with the exact same license plate was spotted last month. Exterior changes compared to the standard model are still hard to spot, but we can see the outline of a new front bumper with larger air intakes.

What this latest spy video does provide is a taste of what the engine sounds like. Land Rover has not released the SVR’s engine specifications, but we could see a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine under its bonnet, the same one that’s powering the Jaguar F-Pace SVR and cranking out 567hp and 516lb-ft of torque. According to CarScoops’ estimations, we could be seeing a 0-62mph acceleration time of around 4 seconds and a top speed exceeding 155mph.

Aside from an engine upgrade, the Velar SVR should be getting a tweaked chassis, suspension settings, and better brakes. All added to improve the model’s performance around the track corners at high speeds.

Performance doesn’t come cheap and we can expect to see a price tag that’s significantly higher than the standard model once the Range Rover Velar SVR debuts next year.
