These are the three engines available for the Range Rover Velar

The base model Velar will only have one engine option available:

The S model Velar will have all 3 engine options available for it:

-2.0L Turbo-Diesel 4-cylinder that produces 180hp and 317lb-ft of torque
-3.0L Supercharged 6-cylinder that produces 296hp and 332lb-ft of torque

The SE model Velar will have will only have one engine option available:

I think the base model 2.0L Turbocharged is good enough for daily use and 269lb-ft of torque seems plenty, but the real question is when that torque comes into play. I like to see some low rpm performance to get that quick acceleration.

I'm pretty sure it's a small turbo, so expecting peak boost to kick in n the 3000rpm range if not slightly earlier

Doesn't Ford still have a partnership with JLR?

I say that because the power specs off that 2.0 turbo is very similar to what the Ford Escape has. If so then good news for us, we get an engine that has a high chance of being reliable.

Well hopefully they still have a steak in JLR with all the growth its projected to go through. At the very least I know they sell components to Land Rover, which plays well into the whole Ford Escape and Velar engine correlation. Doubt it could be from anything else.

I just did some research as to why JLR still uses Ford engines and came up with a bit more information. Apparently Tata Motors bought JLR completely thus severing the ties that Ford had with Range Rover BUT according to what I read, JLR still relies heavily on Ford engines and with the prior business dealings, they may as well still use them for the time being although JLR came out with the Ingenium engines. At some point JLR were the ones who federalized, for example, the 3.0L Diesel that will be in the upcoming F-150 and because the money and what not already went into it, Ford utilizes it.

Obviously it's a lot more complicated but generally because of their prior dealings and whatever they did together and the time, they still transfer things from one another.
